Mr. Davis came to Chapel Hill in 1945 to serve as principal of Chapel Hill High School and superintendent of the city schools. Because of the burning of the high school, classes were being held in the elementary school, the Cone Building, and the basement of the Baptist Church. From that time to this, under Mr. Davis' guidance, Chapel Hill High School has become one of the best schools in the state and the enrollment has at least doubled. Even though Mr. Davis is now retiring, his influence will still be strongly felt because he has been instrumental in the long range plans which include a high school cafeteria, a new home economics building, and a new elementary school. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Mr. Davis for all that he has done for us. For Leocllng
