hi The challenge of creating a theme is perhaps the most difficult task involved in producing a yearbook. A theme must not only be uniquely descriptive. but it must also corrolate a year's events in a few simple words, And if this theme evokes a certain feeling or emotion in the reader. the writer's task has been accomplished. However, this year was an exception, our task Q being so much simpler than in the past Bc early September a theme for the 1985-86 edition of the Vaquero had already been decided We felt that Expect the Unexpected best described what was happening at the time. The senior class was the epitome of our theme. Whereas previous classes were known either for their atheletes or scholars. the seniors of '86 l 1 Matt l ilfNi l 55 Q 1 JK , . ,J Y, were unique in that they were by far one of the most diverse and well-rounded classes Chaparral has ever seen. Rather than dominating a few select areas of achievement they excelled in all areas. The first assemblies proved just how spirited these seniors were.
