DEDICATION-1974 . ffb' , ' ,MQ R , I I U I ! Dr. Guinn dedicates Chaparral to the community on behalf of the School District. Chaparral High School gets it's name from a scrub oak, a plant native to the southwest desert region. The word comes from Chaparro, the Spanish word for evergreen oak. This beautiful two-story facility is located at 3850 Annie Oak- ley Drive, constructed on a forty acre site of land purchased from Ed VonToble Company. The architects were Caudill-Rowlett and Scott of Houston, Texas, in association with Jack Miller and Associates of Las Vegas. The contractor is Del E. Webb Corporation. The construction cost of Chaparral is 88,685,000 Chaparral has a rated student capacity of 2,335, however, with 10096 utilization it will accomidate 2,700 students.
