Desire-To succeed over adverse situations. Hardwork-Which started long before the school year opened. F ortitude-The ability to withstand and overcome the uncomfortable and painful conditions. Pride-which is only developed through hard work. We define it as the quality of accomplishment that brings self-esteem and self-respect. I feel privileged to be a part of such a fine coaching staff at the best of all Las Vegas Schools. My assistant Coach Larry Barnson is a valuable asset to my program and he has done a great job for me this yearf, says Coach Dennis Finfrock. Our team can best be described as aggressive and young, but experienced. In the re-zoning for Chaparral High School we were fortunate to pick up seven lettermen from Valley and Rancho, two of the perennial wrestling powers in our city. Our team has shown very well this year for being so young and we have surprised a lot of people and even put the fear in a few others. vu'- ' vv Mat crew readies for Las Vegas match 1. Pat McGuire 2. Our team played aswell as possible, but haven't quite reached their potential .... That's how head coach, Emilio Camilone, summed up Chaparralis first season in league competition. Camilone is a veteran soccer coach, spending 3 years at Rancho, 2 years at Vegas, and winning his only state cham- pionship at Basic, but he has great faith that this will be changed in a few years here at Chaparral. We are definitely going to be a surprise package next season, states Camilone. He was especially pleased with the plat of Rick Porter, Jim Abraham and Keith Brubaker, who had only played in 2 soccer games in their lives before. The best overall game was against Valley High, winning by just one goal. The team's trip to Palm Springs, California, was a success with our Cowboys winning both games. The soccer bunnies accompanied the team on the trip and were a great asset, helping boost team spirit and other behind the scene activities. Their help was worth a million dollars to the team. It's good to see more girls getting involved in sports. Coach Carni- lone also mentioned that it was a privilege to coach such a great collection of kids. I ll I All together Now. Bs - .
