THE MARUGOLIA A- The Schoolhouse on the Hill -.l When Sol begins his daily climb Far up into the blue expanse, He sends his first rays o'er the hill To caper and to coyly glance Among the ivy vines which climb On its brick walls so Worn with time The schoolhouse on the hill. When farther still his course he runs And warms the earth with welcome rays That 'ancient steeple bell tolls out As it has done in by-gone days And calls us there with our consent Where many happy hours are spent The schoolhouse on the hill. And when his rays begin to fade. Again we hear the bell resound We come from out those schoolhouse docr And turn our faces homeward bound Then as the sun sinks in the west Those last faint beams seem to caress The schoolhouse on the hill. . It may be forty years from now That hill will hushed in silence be There may be naught but ruins left Of those brick Walls which now we see.
