This Is Your lifeQ Edward Yarzab On April 10, 1927, in Lafferty, Ohio, there was born a little boy who was destined some twenty-six years later to arrive at Chandlersville to start to mould the lives and 'charac- ters of students at Salt Creek Local High School. His mother called him Eddie, but we know him as Mr. Yarzab. While a small lad, his parents moved to Sharon, Pa. where he fin- ished grammar and high school. At Sharon High, Ed made the Varsity basketball .team in, his Sophomore year. There were 1500 students at Sharon High. He graduated in 1945. , After High School it was two years in the army in the U.S., France and Germany, and then back to school at Marietta College from 1947 to 1951. Here he played four years of Varsity Basketball. One year he was fourth in the U.S. among small Colleges in foul shooting per- centage. .lt was while attending Marietta College that he met Mary Wanda Campbell, who was later to be- corre Mrs. Yarzab. They were mar- ried in 1948 and have three daughters, Susie, Kathy, and Robin. Graduating from College in 1951 with an A.B. Degree, he taught and coached reserve basketball at Waterford High in Washington County, where he had a 14 win and 5 loss record. The next year the Yarzab's moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Ed worked on Electronics Install- ation in the Douglas Aircraft Corp. But basketball was too much in his blood for him to remain away from it very long so 1953, found him hard at work trying to build a winning com- bination from the material available at Salt Creek Local. While it may be a long process, we can see him making progress with his teams here and wish him continued success in his profession. B'bm.l4-rn if , fmt?
