Gayla McLees, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gail McLees, of New Concord, Ohio, Rt. 3, is this year's Valedictorian. Gayla is following in the footsteps of her older sister Eleanor, who was Valedictorian of Class of 1952. She has been an out- standing student during her four years at Salt Creek Local, rzaving maintained almost a straight A average. Gayla has also been in 4-H for nine years. She has served as president, secretary and recreation leader of Rix Mills Young Peop1e's Christian Union. She has been a mem- ber of Rich Hill Grange two years. She has also been a member of Junior Leadership one year. Gayla won the county award for giving a Food Demonstration at the Ohio State Fair in 1954. Gayla won the county spelling contest in 1949 and 1950. She has also found time to participate in band and Girls Glee Club and keep score for the basketball team during her Senior year. She expects to attend Marietta College. Donald Lee Moody, seventeen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Moody, is the Salutatorian of the Class, finishing only a few points behind the Valedictorian. Donald has also been a very outstanding student. In addition to being an A student in most of his subjects, Don has been very active in the Future Farmers of America, Grange, Church, Junior Fair Board, County and State Fairs. He was Reporter, Vice-President, and President of the F.F.A., Pres- ident of the Junior Fair Board, overseer of the Grange and President of the Methodist Youth Fellowship, Donald expects to attend Ohio State University where he will major in Animal Science.
