Oc icafiw It is with pleasure that we dedicate our 1958 annual to our coach, Mr. Chapman. Mr. Chapman came to C.H.S. two years ago. He has done a good deal of work with our bas- ketball teams. Under his super- vision, we won the trophy for the Holiday Tourney at Lynnville. Coach Chapman received his education at Oakland City College. In addition to his coaching, he teaches in Chandler H. S. To our coach who has gained the complete respect of all the boys he has worked with, and everyone who has known him, we say... ’’Thank you! 1 MR. NOVAK MUSIC MRS. EVANS COMMERCE MR. Our sponsor was Mrs. Boyd, and we had forty' students in our class. Larry Simpson made the Varsity team, which made us proud. Our class officers were: President, Sandra Younker; Vice-president, Larry Simpson; Secretary, Marion May; Treas- urer, Gayle Ann Hatchett; News Report- er, Linda Williams. We enjoyed a skat- ing party in February and a trip to Wyan- dotte Cave. 1955 - Then we began our sophomore year; we lost a few of our students. Our spon- sor was Mr. Boyle. The class officers were: President, Larry Simpson; Vice- president, Leroy Hildebrant; Secretary, Doris Hetzel; Treasurer, Darlene Michel; News Reporter, Linda Sue Williams. We got our class jackets in our sophomore year, also. 1956 - Then we began our junior year starting with thirty-two students and Mr. Boyle as our sponsor again. Our class officers were: President, Joe Brown; Vice-president, Larry Simp- son; Secretary, Gayle Ann Hatchett; Treasurer, Eugene Cannon; and News Reporters, Marion May and Linda Williams. The juniors had as much fun practicing as they did presenting their play In Again! Out Again! directed by Mrs. Marshall to make money for the Junior- Senior Prom which was held at Fritz's Cafe in Evansville, Indiana. 1957 - Now, at last, the year, our last year at C. H. S. Mr. Fisher is our sponsor for this year. There are twenty-seven students still together for one last try. Class officers are: President, Doris Hetzel; Vice-president, Dave Tisdale; Secretary, Jimmy Wright; Treasurer, Eugene Cannon; and News Reporter, Gayle Ann Hatchett. The basketball queen for this year was Doris Hetzel; Maid of Honor, Betty Townsend; attendants were Linda Williams and Vonita Majors One of the cheerleaders was Gayle Ann Hatchett. Our class trip includes New York, Washington, D. C. and Philadelphia. Then comes the happiest day of our lives, when we walk up that long aisle toward success and happy futures for the rest of our lives ... Graduation. The Chandler Band is still in its embryonic stages, but is is rapidly growing strong. This years activities included the Christmas program and several appearances at the basketball games- and like the chorus, the band is planning to participate in this years graduation exercises. The band is very able backed by the band booster club. Through their interest and hard work they have supplied the band with instruments and uniforms. The band will be augmented next year by this year's beginners band. They are about thirty-five strong and should make a lot of difference in the whole perspective of the instrumental program here at Chandler. In the fall of this school year, a group of girls assembled for the sole purpose of blending their voices in beautiful harmonic sounds called music. This group is called the Girls Glee Club. They succeeded in doing just that. The Girls' Glee Club put on an excellent Christmas program, but the best is yet to come. A con cert is planned for this spring with the band and graduation ceremonies will be the highlight and culmination of this year's activities. The organization is particularly proud of their abundant supply of accompanists. Doris Hetzel, doing most of the work, was assisted with plenty of help from Dixie Hetzel and Karen Fleeger. Next year's chorus should prove an even greater success with the girls' voices more matured and trained. CO CO FIRST ROW: (left to right) K. Curry, D. Jarboe, D. Blackford, B. Beard, N. Fisher, G.
