Our sponsor was Mr. Turney. Our room mothers were Mrs. Nisbeth and Mrs. Vessels. We had a wonderful time that year with our class parties and our class trip. We had a ball team that was considered very good, and Janet Vessels was chosen as cheerleader. At the end of the year, we went to Mesker Park. In 1955, we entered the eighth grade. We were divided into two classes. Mr. Esk- ridge taught the first and Mr. Smith taught the second class. Both classes elected officers. First class officers were: president, Jimmy Gill; vice-president, Donald Droll; secretary, Imogene Bowley; treasurer, Ronald Droll; news reporter, Janice Hetzel. Second class : president, Walter Thompson; vice-president, Barbara Riley; secretary, Connie McCormick; treasurer, Marian Nisbeth; and news reporter, Linda Watson. We went on an educational tour that year to the water plant and the power plant. We had a great ball team that year. We won the grade school tourney by defeating sev- eral of the Warrick County grade teams. In February, we crowned the basketball queen. Leading off the crowning were the attendants : Doris Camp, Ann Williams, Sharon Teutsch, Earlene Keller and Donna Carroll. Then came the big moment when Walter Thompson, captain of the team, crowned Lois Splittorff, Queen of 1955. That year we went to Spring Mill at the end of the year. In 1956, we are at last up to date. We are now little green freshies , happy as can be, with Mr. Chapman as our class sponsor. We elected class officers who were: president, Donna Carroll; vice-president, Barbara Riley; secretary, Dorothy Stinson; treasurer, Marian Nisbeth; and news reporter, Linda Watson. Earlene Keller was chosen as attendant for the basketball queen. We had a hayride at Scales Lake the first semester. We have several new students this year and have lost some along with them. We are look- ing forward to our sophomore year.
