12e niot We started in the first year of junior high with an enrollment of 36 students. Mrs. Helen Weirs was our sponsor. Our cheerleaders for the basketball team were Sue Angel and Judy Galloway. We ended the year with an all-day picnic at Lincoln State Park. Mr. Arthur Adye was our eighth grade sponsor. We had 27 in our class. Sue Angel and Judy Gallo- way were cheerleaders. We had several activities which included class parties, a tour of the Ideal Milk Company, International Harvester, and the Weather Bureau, and a picnic at Mesker Park. Next came the big thrill. We were in high school. Our sponsor was Mr. John Turney and we had 28 students in our class. We were proud to have several of our boys on the basketball team and Thelma Willis crowned as basketball queen. Richard Lamping and Fay Eidson were candidates for Spring Festi- val king and queen. We enjoyed a trip to Spring Mill State Park for our class trip. We began the sophomore year with 27 and Mr. Gene Cato as our sponsor. We had several cIcbs par- ties and hayrides. Janice Walter was chosen cheerleader. CXir attendant for basketball queen was Glenda Davis. James Courtney and Carolyn Aubrey were candidates for Spring Festival king and queen. For our class trip, we went to Brown County State Park. Then came the highlight of our high-school years. Mrs. Vergie Stephens was our sponsor and we had 25 in our class. To start the year we had a hayride and hamburger fry at Scales Lake. Janice Walter was cheerleader and Kay Bassett served as junior attendant to the basketball queen. The Juniors presented “Everything's On Ice , directed by Mrs. Stephens, to make money for the banquet and prom. Candi- dates for Spring Festival king and queen were Larry Droll and Martha Cotton. The big event of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom at the Evansville College Uhion Building. Our theme was “Star- light Swing . We had a hamburger fry at Mesker Park after school was out. Now comes what we all have waited for so long. At last we are seniors, the upperclassmen. Mrs. Opal Ellis is our sponsor and we have 21 in our class. Our class colors are blue and white, our class flower is the yellow rose, and our motto is “Strive For Achievement . Carolyn Aubrey and Janice Walter were candidates for Band Sweetheart in the fall. The seniors took charge of the high school Christmas party and handled all the arrangements. We also sponsored the publishing of the school paper, The Chronicle , which was put out each grading period. David Eidson and Richard Lamping played on the varsity squad and Janice Walter was elected cheerleader. We were proud to have the basketball queen. Sue Angel, chosen from our class. Beverly Creek was runner-up and served as an attendant. Our class had a magazine campaign to make money for the treasury. The senior play, For Pete's Sake , was presented April 22, directed by Mrs. Ellis. We are looking forward to the banquet and prom. Then comes one of the happiest days of our lives, graduation. 14
