. Football Defense was the key to our success this season, said Head Coach Delvin Schutes. When Qotherj teams played us, they knew they had been hit and hit hard. The Wolves had an excellent season this year. In fact, this was one of the best seasons in the history of Chandler football. The Wolves' strength was aided by 21 returning lettermen. Senior halfback Chawn Hunter was the leading rusher, averaging seven yards per carry, with more than 100 yards a game. Hunter was honored with the Arizona Republic's BACK OF THE WEEK award. The Wolves were led by Coach Schutes. Coaches Jim Flannery and Jim Wall were the defensive and offensive coaches respectively. Coach Fred Coates assisted with the wide receivers and defensive backs. Among the Wolves' biggest victories this season were the Mesa and McClintock games.
