Shooting potential, enthusiasm, and dedication to work typify this year's archery team. Jackie Troost, senior, and Susan Fisher and Donna King, ju- niors, are the returning team members with the remaining team members be- ing novices with the bow. Goals aimed for are the state top ten list, and as last year's team moved from 8th place to 7th place, the archers are targeting in on 5th place this year. The greatest opponents traditionally have been Camelback, Alhambra and Westwood, but on the right day it is anyone's bullseye. JACKIE TROOST SHOOTING for a bullseye. Photo by Miller. irls rack yn... E! I lst Row: Sherry Wagnor, Sharon Walker, Beth Glass, Michele Peralta, 2nd Row: Lynell Wisseman, Jennifer Fletcher, Linda Carey, Robin Burnorett, Carrie Thrasher, Onicca Lane, 3rd Row: Diana Baker, Maureen Haney, Cathy Niemyer, Patti Westendorff, Lori Pierson, Mia Farnsworth, Pam Lenyoun. Coach Shapiro commented, We've got a young team with only two seniors on it, but we do have a lot of untested -P talent. This team might be a year away from being a super team. Last year's track team had seasoned veterans. This years team is mainly made up of sophomores. Although the competition should come from Mt. View, Westwood, Mesa and Coranado, the girls' track team's goal is to finish in the top 5 in division. Central Division girls' teams are traditionally high fin- ishers in the state, so they should be able to do it. MIA FARNSWORTH ATTEMPTS to Clear the bar while high jumping. Photo by Thompson. mnastics lst Row: Karen Pasini, Paula Hainsworth, Linda Lofshult, Jodi Lefshult, Danielle Hoffman, 2nd Row: Marva Anderson, Heddi Bavousett, Coach Karen Weinaug, Tammi Trahan, Kim Brown, Randa Pearce. This year's gymnastics team is inex- perienced, with only four returning girls but very hard working. The gymnasts are attaining a higher quality and have a team goal to break 100 points. The team this year is throwing much harder tricks and should be very competitive with their opponents. Although every match is competitive, the toughest op- ponents should be Mountain View and Westwood. Paula Hainsworth practices her routine. Photo by Miller. , W , Sports 53
