on l . at l c, ,K im- A A I If-Yr, Around VHS in ITIS Days Around the World in 80 Days Around the World in 118 Minutes - Iflach of these phrases has been the topic of conversation among students at one time or another this spring. Do they have anything in common? ln the story Around the World in S0 Days by .lules Verne, which was written in the Victorian Age, Philaes lfogg makes a wager that he can travel around the world in 80 days. The satellite, Explorer, was put into space and travels around the world in orbit every 118 minutes. These two unrelated events, the first fictional and the second a fact. are a prt duct of their times and illustrate 1nan's progress. The analogy, Around CHS in l7ti Days also represents a journey. ln the last instance it is a journey of preparation for living in a changing society and by being better prepared. greater will be the personal rewards. The faculty of Chandler High School hopes that each individual has had a high satisfaction in his efforts and achievements this past year. H. L. White, Principal 7
