Un- der the coaching of Mr. Bill Thorne and Mr. Terry Coxson, the team tied for first place in the Trumbull AA Lea- gue. The freshmen displayed tremen- dous talent throughout the season. Rick Bayus was named as the Best Offensive Lineman and he also made the All League first team. Tom Lynn was given the best Defensive Lineman award and was also placed on the All League first team. iv V wary Other players, All League Hrst team stars were all county Randy Christie, Scott Freer, and Todd Triplett. Chris Petrilla was given the Coaches, 3 D award, and Bandit of the Year went to Dave Bailey. Under the new coach, Mr. Roger Woods, the teamis record improved tremendous- ly. The backbone of the team, sopho- more Dave James, finished the season with a well known reputation among his running peers. Dave usually finished in lst place and if not lst, then 2nd or 3rd in his meets. He advanced from the league meet to sectionals and then to districts. With Dave's determination and ability, Champion looks forward to having him for 2 more years.
