Chaplain llllllllli 'si T N C 1 x av-., LX . N' if I I lReuerend James Hickey, S.M., B.A. The spiritual life here at Chaminade was ably and capably advanced by our chaplain, Rev, James Hickey. To get the ball rolling, Father called for a confession day during which all students were given the opportunity to receive the sacrament during school time. Confessions were also heard every day before and after school. This enabled many more Chaminade men to receive Communion at daily Mass in the chapel or at the weekly Mass in the auditorium on Friday. Complementary to this program is the spiritual guidance so readily available for those seeking it. The door is always open to the chaplain's office, where Father may be found offering suggestions to a member of the student body on anything from marks to daily Communion.

Vice-Principa W eilllllllll , Brother Louis Nath, S.M., M.A. l I I Brother Louis Nath, SM, is known to most of us as Dean of Discipline here at Chaminade. Before and after each school day Brother may be found in his office checking absentees, administering just rewards to slip holders, and fulfilling the many other tasks of a busy vice-principal. But if you look carefully around his office you will find evidence of his equally important though less known duties, On a chair in the corner there may be a stack of tests from Brother's Latin classes. Perhaps there is a pile of gifts for the next card party. This heavy schedule makes Brother one of the busiest of Chaminade's faculty.

ligion Department REV. JAMES HICKEY, S.M., B.A. Chaplain Religion IV Latin IV Chairman of Religion Department Moderator of Marianist League Under the guidance of Rev. James Hickey, new depart- mental head, the Religion section of the faculty has concen- trated this year mainly on an integral religious background for the Chaminade student body. Father has visited many of the classes and offered helpful suggestions for the discussion of various topics during the course. The Mission Club, one of Chaminade's more dormant activities, was at last brought into the realm of the living under a group headed by Father Anthony Jansen, the Sodality coordinator. lt was decided that the club should act more as a director of the mission activities rather than just the hands of the movement. This latter job of actually performing the various duties of the club was given to the homeroom religious committees, with the hope of reawakening student interest in this important field. Besides sending stamps to the missions abroad, the club has visited several homes in the vicinity to work with less fortunate children and orphans. Chaminade's branch of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine expanded its sphere of influence this year by sending students-turned-teachers to St. Ignatius' in Hicksville and Corpus Christi Parish in Mineola. l-athcr Jansen, Sodality Coordinator, discusses some organizational plans with Prefect Jim Moore. l la Moderator of 3G Rams Religion IV Sodality Coordinator Moderator of Mission Club Moderator of CCD 22 REV.
