JANSEN, S.M., B.A. Sodality Director Chairman Religion Department Religion IV' An integral part ot the Chaminade curricu- lum, the Religion Department under the direc- tion of Father Anthony Jansen, S.M., has for its purpose the developing ot the spiritual and moral aspects of the Christian man, This, the largest and most' basic department in the school, accomplishes its aim by imparting a thorough knowledge ot the Commandments, the Mass, the Sacraments, Church History, and Apologetics during the tour year course. But perhaps the most important work ot the De- partment is the encouragement ot frequent reception of the Sacraments by the students. Other members of this department not pictured here are: Bro. CORBETT, S.M,, M.A. Moderator Al-l Scorpions Chairman English Department English Ill, IV Sodality Fine Arts Society Drarnatics Club Speech Club Space Magazine To improve the grammatical and literary standards of the school and to co-ordinate the activities of each division are the goals ot the English Department for this year. Under the Chairmanship of Bro. Thomas Corbett, S.M,, the Department has begun the use of a new series of grammar work books, Essentials in English . Each student is required to hand in a book report every three weeks in order to improve his reading comprehension. ln order for each division to present a uniform cur- riculum in English, the Department has in- augurated the principle ot divisional heads. Mr. Gratton was appointed head ot the Fresh- man Division, Bro. O'Neil the Sophomore, Mr. McNamara the Junior, and Bro. Thomas Corbett the Senior.
