John Darby and George McKenzie being congratulated by Fr. Elbert at their Twenty- fifth Jubilee Celebration. 18 Fifteen years ago, Chaminade opened its por- tals to a new teacher, Bro. John T. Darby, S.M. After two years he became Vice-Principal and in 1945, Principal of Chaminade. Through his fore- sight, Bro. Iohn has created numerous changes in the life at Chaminade. His administration has seen new additions to the school in the form of an auditorium, athletic building, enlarged faculty house, and classroom space for 1,200 students. Eiffel!! fi?

This year, a member of our faculty, Brother Max Beyer, S.M., celebrated his Seventieth Anniversary as a Brother of Mary. Brother Max represents the devotion and consecration of a re- ligious to Mary, common to each and every Marianist. One of the high points of Brother Maxis life occurred upon his reception of a congratulatory letter from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, adding to the honor of his Golden Jubilee in 1937. After having taught for a period of twenty-five years at Most Holy Trinity in Brooklyn, Brother became a member of the Chaminade faculty in 1939. When Chaminade began expanding again on October 2, 1953, Brother Max was on hand to break ground for construction of the new Chaminade. He exercised the duties of faculty doorkeeper and maintained the schoolis publicity files. The entire student body congratulated Brother Max on the occasion of his anniversary and prayed that he would have many more fruitful years in the service of Our Lady. I told you the Yanks would take it!
