Did only Pope Pius's voice sound out through all those celestial spaces? Or did the angels take no notice, and maintain unbroken what happi- ness it is that concerns them alone? There was one certainly that paused and heard- she of whom the Dogma spoke. She must have listened and witnessedg and perhaps whispered some new Magnificat, or words of old- My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. We witnessed zealous teach- ing and inspiring example. Each correction of homework, or quiz, or exam was like the testing of every note that went into our Pre- lude. For such tedious yet cheerful attention to duty, nothing but the sincerest gratitude is fitting, and that we offer with all our hearts. May the melody they have helped so well to fashion always sound true to them. ln this year also, the Society of Mary opens up its second century of service in the work of education in the United States. We are quick, therefore, to wish it well, and our prayers will follow that the mighty blessings of God will always attend Father Chaminade's work here and throughout the world. ll. 4 R V V . 5,iiiiullf'i.xTii.uli7311.150 , 2- i, :+L 7 47f T , -' -4' . --i-- - ' Eliliflii 5: , i E1f .flw I I J-, 'l 'W ,gg A -' 'UA K .K x I I: f '. Xx 7.- ,L .4 -, f ,.j13?4.v5wu - f fi In these few pages we hope to round out our composition by giving prominence to the social highlights of the scholastic year. The dances, assemblies and other activities re- ceived little attention, but did just as big a job toward molding the Christian gentle- man as did the studies and sports .... Chaminade men are well-known for the' social, as well as scholastic ability. lt is fitting then that we should call atten- tion to these highlights and emphasize in a small way our social achievements and extra- curricular activities. Every event and project served to form a more perfect Christian gentleman and inject a smoothness into his prelude. And so we proudly present the highlights of the year and point with pride to their suc- cess, for through these projects we not only enlivened our Opus, but gave it a richness and completeness it had previously lacked. 441 Y Q Y Il Hr., iiiiiliiiiiiziiq ' lfulnir 1 -LL , 1 , ' 21-gllfqlv jg 1-l..., E T--l G I -l.:h .- 67, its l l QL.. . x - Q .0 : . Every Chaminade man took part in it, whether it was in P. T. class or in a position on the varsity. His spirit of competition, a result of physical and men- tal alertness gifted by God and developed by instructors, will help him in the future to overcome far greater obstacles than tl'-ose which faced him on the athletic field. Those qualified joined the various teams and took part in the long programs of vigor- ous practices which, although just a re- hearsal for the oncoming conflicts, were all important for precision-like performances. The long hours of practice, instruction and the ever-present spirit were not in vain since every team, without exception, displayed the true Flyer tradition of accepting both vic- tory and defeat as Chaminade men. 44j.
