A complex world requires that we be prepared intellectually, esthetically, technically, physically, and morally. The Hall Squad is composed of a group of school-minded students whose obiectives are to maintain order in the corridors and to guide visitors to the various areas of the building. Members of the staff take turns patrolling the halls, checking the lavatories, and maintaining information desks at school entrances. Intent in carrying out their duties elticiently, students report any irregularities and attempt to quell any dis- turbances which occur in the halls. .swims 'mgmal The Mediator Between Students And Faculty Young voices echo the principles ot gov- ernment established in the early history of our country as the Student Advisory Council convenes. Freedom of speech and thought is practiced by these school leaders as they create better understanding between the faculty and students. Always uppermost in their mind is the welfare ofthe school. An active council this year, the SAC published the student directory, provided classrooms with permanent tire drill signs, joined the National Association of Student Councils, l and organized the Sports Booster Club. The Sophomore Tri-Hi-Y has the largest membership of any club in the school. Serving their school and community, these girls overlook no opportunity to perform a kind deed. At holi- day seasons they send gifts to various organiza- tions. They brighten the days of hospital patients with cleverly designed favors. When civic affairs are conducted in the school auditorium, the Tri- Hi-Y girls assume the responsibility of checking the hats and coats of the visitors. They collabor- ate with the other Tri-Hi-Y groups in sponsoring rallies and in sending delegates to the state con- ference at Gettysburg. Students and faculty alike agree that this is a very worthwhile organization. 93 ' I I Aspire To Become Faithful Citizens And Leaders The Hi-Y clubs participate in a nation-wide fellowship and provide guidance, inspiration, and recreation for their members. Guided by their advisers, they plan varied programs to meet the needs and interests of everyone. The Trojans displayed amazing speed, strength, and finesse as they de- feated all but one opponent, Scotland. How- ever, the powerful Scotland squad was able to find only a small measure of success in its indecisive 61-57 victory. The South Penn Conference meet, held annually at Gettysburg College, was com- pletely dominated by the fine Chambers- burg squad. In the course of the meet the Troians' 880 yard relay team surpassed the school and conference record in its supreme effort of the season. Chambersburg amassed twice as many points as runner-up Carlisle. In the District Ill meet at Lancas- ter, the squad made another fine showing. With the graduation of only three lettermen, this nearly perfect season should easily be repeated next year.
