After absorbing losses at the hands of Hagerstown and Lebanon, the charges of Coach Bob Beard won the next four consecu- tive games before Gettysburg held them to a 6 to 6 deadlock. The team faltered the next time out and almost dropped the game to Waynes- boro. Then a powerful aggregation from Car- lisle proved too much for the hometown boys, and in freezing cold weather, the Thundering Herd romped to a 47 to 6 victory. Mechanics- burg followed the loss with a 26 to 0 victory on our home field. Despite the tough competition, injuries, and bad luck , Chambersburg was ahead at the final count, winning five games, losing four, and tying one.
