HENDERSON SYNOPSIS OF SCENES I'I'0I0f1l1t'---SCGIIGZ Banquet Hall in casa on the rancho of Don Jose. Time: Midnight. Act One-Scene: Same as Prologue. Time: Evening two weeks later. Act Tl1lUfSC9IICZ Same as Act One. Time: One week later. From late morning until evening. SYNOPSIS OF PLOT Don Jose Ramon Rivera, scion of an old Castilian family in California. and heir to the Rancho Rivera, returns to America after fighting iI1 the XVorld IVar. Upon his arrival at the ranch, he finds that his lawyer has sold every live thing on the ranch and has given an option on the place to a railroad man from the East tSilas Dayl. Before Mr. Day arrives, Don Jose sends fur Several of his buddies. who were with him in France. to cope with the situation. XVhen they arrive, they camp in an old rustler's cabin. YVhen Day and his friends arrive. they find in Don Jose only a harmless fool. Mr. Day proceeds to get an option oI1 the ranch in order to start work on the railroad. However, Don Jose finds out what their scheme is, and under his direction, the boys pull up the rails as fast as they are laid. Don Jose slips away to Kansas City, where he sells the right of way to the president ot' Mr. Day's road. Mr. Day is ashamed of his scheme and promises to stay oIIt YVest and help build the ranch to its former beauty. All ends happily. and Don Jose marries the daughter of Mr. Day. SYMBOL To provide an opportunity for the pupils of the High School to play popular music.. ' REQUIREMENTS Positions. both vocal and instrumental. are filled by try-outs. ACHIEVEMENTS The dance orchestra, this year officially christened The Rhythm Kids . plays for nearly all school dances and also fills many outside engagements. In the past two years they have presented several broadcasts from station XVJEJ. in Hagers- town, and their picture has appeared in three national music magazines. Once a year the dance orchestra gives an assembly program, which is always well-received. This year the second dance orchestra was continued. under the direction ot' Richard DilTenderfer and Ted Peters.
