A hushed audience stood silently by as the beautiful and impressive Homecoming festivities were officially opened. Nancy Hunter was crowned queen and Clifford Hickey marshall, complete with attendants, train and crown bearers all in regal attire. Following the Coronation services a bonfire, snake dance and pep rally were staged. The following afternoon hundreds lined the street to view the Homecoming parade, led by the high school band. The Junior Class was awarded the winning float. In the big event of the day the “Cubs defeated the Highmore “Pirates’’ 40 to 0. A happy climax of the day was the student-alumni dance in the evening sponsored by the stu- dent council. 20
