we started with nine pupils who are Nan- cy Dunker, Frederick Dutton, Donald Mc- Cormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, Lawrence Weav- er, David Whitaker, Nancy Zootman and Doris Hintz who joined us on March 12. It seems that at this point of our training we girls we-re feeling rather grown up. Miss Barr would repeatedly day after day make us go wash the lipstick from our lips. In Junior High and the seventh grade, we have finally accomplished the task of getting upstairs. This is a new experience for us and having to go to different rooms for our various classes in three minutes is one thing we are positive we will never be able to do. Those first few days we didn't know exactly where we were going, we knew that the kids who we-re already upstairs were laughing at the way we were scurrying down the halls, but we just couldn't be late to class. This year Nancy Dunker, Frederick Dutton, Max Flynn, who was retained in the seventh grade from the year before, Doris Hintz, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, Lawrence Weaver, who withdrew on March fourth, David Whitaker, and Nancy Zootman made up the seventh grade class. Beginning the first year that we have gone to school eight and one half months, we enter as members of the eighth grade. With us we have Nancy Dunker, Max Flynn, Doris Hintz, Donald McCormick, Joyce Meyers, who moved to Chalmers from Rensselear during the summer, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, David Whitaker and Nancy Zootman. With help from Westpoint Township, who added six new members and one member who entered during the summer, we now start our journey over our four years of high school with the largest class in our history. There are sixteen in the freshman class and they are: Jewett Briscoe, who entered from Bunker Hill, Albert Garing, Lester Logan, Evan Pa- trick, Virgil Van Voorst, Doris Young and Patricia Bell all entering from West- point. Nancy Dunker, Max Flynn, Donald McCormick, Joyce Meyers, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Tou- mine, David Whitaker, and Nancy Zoot- man, Doris Young withdrew on February 27, made up the remainder of the class. It is with the above group that we finish our four years of high school. There are now fifteen members and we are proud to say that the same fifteen have gone through the four years of high school together. Also we would like to say that Nancy Dunker, Darlene Schroeder, David Whitake-r, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, and Donald McCormick started together in the first grade and have gone to school through the entire twelve years together. High school has proved very exciting with many activities, such as plays, re- ceptions, and all the other usual activities of high school life. Of course such things as the day we took a school bus to Brown County and the night we attended the Ice Review are occasions that will long be remembered even after our class parts, and each mem- ber goes on down his chosen path of life. Leaving with you this record, the Seniors of '51 thanks Chalmers High for the many years she has echoed our voices in her halls: bids her Good-Bye and bows out of the picture.

CLASS HISTORY In the fall of T939 Mrs. Shigley prob- ably wondered for the first time why she e-ver decided to be a school teacher. On this September morning she looked into the shining faces of what is now the Seniors of '51. They were as follows: Paul Banes, George Burks, Nancy Dun- ker, Frederick Dutton, Robert Ellis, Bea- trice Harner, Doris Hintz who withdrew on March 8, Joseph Mansfield, who with- drew on March 26, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, Pa- tricia Sterner, John Toumine, Alta We-s- ton, and David Whitaker. During the month of November there was much ill- ness and almost all of us missed a few days of school. When we came back to school in the fall of '40 we had left Patricia Sterner and Paul Banes behind. In our second grade we started with fourteen members who were James Anker, James had re- mained in the second grade from the year before, Dorothy Budreau, George Burks, who withdrew on February 6, Nancy Dun- ker, Frederick Dutton, Robert Ellis, Bea- trice Harner, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Tou- mine, Alta Weston, and David Whitaker, and Nancy Zootman who entered during the summer from Monticello. This year during the month of October we had per- fect attendance. 1941, we feel we are really climbing the stairs of knowledge as we are now in the third grade. The first day we are a little bit bashful as we have Miss Parks as our teacher. Our class now has only eleven members since Robert Ellis and Beatrice Harner withdrew during the summer. The following made up the third grade class: James Anker, Dorothey Bu- dreau, Nancy Dunker, Frederick Dutton who withdrew shortly after school start- ed, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroe- der, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, La- verne Weston, David Whitaker and Nan- cy Zootman. This is another year that we had a perfect attendance record in Octo- ber, this seems to be our lucky month about sickness. In 1942, we are in the fourth grade, Miss Parks is still our teacher, and we are beginning to feel rather important, after all, we are the oldest class in our room. This year we start with twelve members, Jean and Joan Bell joined us the first day of school since they moved in town during the summer. Dorothy Budreau and Lave-rne Weston both with- drew before Christmas, but Frederick Dutton and Robert Overley also entered before Christmas. The ones that com- pleted the fourth grade were James An- ker, Jean Bell, Joan Bell, Nancy Dunker, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman 'Sterner, John Toumine, David Whitaker, Nancy Zootman, Frederick Dutton and Robert Overley. Still moving on we are in the fifth grade and also in Miss Barr's room. With us we have James Anker, Jean Bell, Joan Bell, Nancy Dunker, Frederick Dutton, Donald McCormick, Robert Overley, Dar- lene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, Lawrence Weaver, David Whit- aker, and Nancy Zootman. When school started this year we had one new member, Lawrence Weaver, who entered during the summer. During the month of Feb- ruary we lost three members, they were Jean and Joan Bell and Robert Overley. In the sixth grade in 1944, we are really getting smart and fee-ling smarter that we actually are. It seems our class gradually keeps getting smaller, this year

Now for a commercial from our Sponsor, THE ALBERT GARING GESTER FIELD COINEANY. Here's a few words from Mr. Garing. Friends, and you are my friends. We dare them all to make this statement. My tobacco is the mildest, ripest, strongest, coarsest, of all tobacco leaves. Now can you find any other tobacco that can make that statement??? No you can't. Why??? Because no other tobacco company would want those features. Thank you. INDIANAPOLIS:-Joyce Meyers, now Mrs. Robert Bud Schmitt, is visiting her husband, a retired motorcycle race driver, who has served 25 years as a paratrooper. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN :-Ezzard Charles, the N.B.A. Boxing Champ, has not come to yet, from a blow on the chin he received in a fight with Age- less Abe Patrick , a young up and down, I mean up and coming fighter. He floored the Champ in 1 second of the first round. It seems that the horse shoes on Abe's gloves helped a little. He couldn't hit the champ, so he took one glove- off and dropped it on his toe, and when the champ bent over in pain, Abe let him have it with the other hand. As you know Abe is a good clean fighter!!! CHEYENNE, WY.:-Darlene Schroeder, the girl with that million dollar horse face, er pardon me, I mean Horse Ranch, has just won 310,000 as first in a trick horse riding contest. He has the best Eb tire pump player in the world. His son is also in the orchestra. John the III plays a real hot Bb Phon- ograph. CHICAGO :-The VAN VOORST EXCA- VATING CO. has just cleared a large group of trees from a piece of land next to the Wigley Field ball park. It seems that the Co. is going to set up a new office. Their president, Virgil Van Voorst will be in charge. CHALMERS:-Dave Whitaker, the own- er of 45,000 acres of land around White County, has informed everyone that he will plant all his land in corn. In the coming year, he will then start his usual crop rotation. Dave has purchased 14 new John Deere tractors to aid in the work. CALIFORNIA:--Miss Nancy Zootman, sole owner of the TWA airways, has purchased a new 955-350,000 home in Point Mugu. She visited there while still in High School, and decided she would like to live there. She has her own pri- vate DC6 and flies from coast to coast almost daily. What a busy girl!!! NEW YGRK:-A new speed record has been set by Lanky Lester Logan in his new Bel-Aire jet CheVie. Lester cruised cross-country in 10 minutes flat. Speedy Huh!!!
