CLASS HISTORY In the fall of T939 Mrs. Shigley prob- ably wondered for the first time why she e-ver decided to be a school teacher. On this September morning she looked into the shining faces of what is now the Seniors of '51. They were as follows: Paul Banes, George Burks, Nancy Dun- ker, Frederick Dutton, Robert Ellis, Bea- trice Harner, Doris Hintz who withdrew on March 8, Joseph Mansfield, who with- drew on March 26, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, Pa- tricia Sterner, John Toumine, Alta We-s- ton, and David Whitaker. During the month of November there was much ill- ness and almost all of us missed a few days of school. When we came back to school in the fall of '40 we had left Patricia Sterner and Paul Banes behind. In our second grade we started with fourteen members who were James Anker, James had re- mained in the second grade from the year before, Dorothy Budreau, George Burks, who withdrew on February 6, Nancy Dun- ker, Frederick Dutton, Robert Ellis, Bea- trice Harner, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Tou- mine, Alta Weston, and David Whitaker, and Nancy Zootman who entered during the summer from Monticello. This year during the month of October we had per- fect attendance. 1941, we feel we are really climbing the stairs of knowledge as we are now in the third grade. The first day we are a little bit bashful as we have Miss Parks as our teacher. Our class now has only eleven members since Robert Ellis and Beatrice Harner withdrew during the summer. The following made up the third grade class: James Anker, Dorothey Bu- dreau, Nancy Dunker, Frederick Dutton who withdrew shortly after school start- ed, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroe- der, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, La- verne Weston, David Whitaker and Nan- cy Zootman. This is another year that we had a perfect attendance record in Octo- ber, this seems to be our lucky month about sickness. In 1942, we are in the fourth grade, Miss Parks is still our teacher, and we are beginning to feel rather important, after all, we are the oldest class in our room. This year we start with twelve members, Jean and Joan Bell joined us the first day of school since they moved in town during the summer. Dorothy Budreau and Lave-rne Weston both with- drew before Christmas, but Frederick Dutton and Robert Overley also entered before Christmas. The ones that com- pleted the fourth grade were James An- ker, Jean Bell, Joan Bell, Nancy Dunker, Donald McCormick, Darlene Schroeder, Norman 'Sterner, John Toumine, David Whitaker, Nancy Zootman, Frederick Dutton and Robert Overley. Still moving on we are in the fifth grade and also in Miss Barr's room. With us we have James Anker, Jean Bell, Joan Bell, Nancy Dunker, Frederick Dutton, Donald McCormick, Robert Overley, Dar- lene Schroeder, Norman Sterner, John Toumine, Lawrence Weaver, David Whit- aker, and Nancy Zootman. When school started this year we had one new member, Lawrence Weaver, who entered during the summer. During the month of Feb- ruary we lost three members, they were Jean and Joan Bell and Robert Overley. In the sixth grade in 1944, we are really getting smart and fee-ling smarter that we actually are. It seems our class gradually keeps getting smaller, this year
