DEDICATION Whether it's on the gridiron or in the great game of life, he takes the interest of one vitally concerned. His is the reputation for producing fighting and win- ning teams. When we return from a game defeated, he is pleased if we have given one hundred percent. It is only when we haven't given our all that we are able to get a taste of his displeasure. His is the rare quality of eternal cheerfulness and it is with youthful eager- ness that he lends a helping hand to any scheme we may undertake. His faith in the class of 1962 has helped us in all we have done. Any of us returning to Chagrin come back to visit him, our everlasting friend and teacher, and to whom we proudly dedicate this yearbook . . . MR. RALPH QUESINBERRY 5

FOREWORD You have inherited a world that is in serious trouble. Every one is preoccupied by the organ- ization of peace. This is the crucial problem which dominates all others. But we hear only of superficial or external solutions such as treaties, summit meetings, and international police. We hear nothing about respect for these treaties, the integrity of the arbitrators, nor the good faith of all, without which these solutions are of no value. Their effectiveness depends entirely upon the moral character of the men who write them and negotiate them. It is not easy to look beyond human life and lay plans which will provide man kind with a sense of trust and fair play. Man is still closely tied to beastly in- stincts. Relatively few extraordinary men have been able to rise above ances- tral bonds and bargain in good faith. The world needs not one, two, or a dozen more of these outstanding individuals. Thousands are needed! You, the class of 1962 must provide some of this extraordinary character. I hope that you will have a few less superstitions, a few less prejudices, a few less greeds than my generation has had. I hope you can profit from our blunders and at least leave our world no worse off than you have found it. 4
