It is related to me by my father that there wa a great e tablishment called Chaffcy which housed many gems and other valuables in the form of students and faculty And the students were divided into four groups according to age and ability and each group moved up one rung of the four step ladder every year The last step was sometimes hard to take as most of the students had had a wondrous time at this place Such was the case of the fourth group in 1948 But in their passing they left a high record of accomplishments in scholas tic ability initiative and social activites And during their reign of the fourth step they were equipped with royal blue sweaters with white Tiger emblems signifying their high position in the House of the Tiger Proceeding my father told me that during the year the Tiger wished to be amused and so the Senior Assembly which expressed Thanksgiving for ali And then there came a great day of feasting Apr1l2O during which luscious and tempting pies that had been freshly baked by families of the fourth group were auctioned off going to the highest bidder Then the Tiger wanted entertainment again and brought forth from this de sire was the Senior Play one of the outstanding events ot the year showing to full advantage the dramatic ability of its cast A mystery comedy House of Horrors was a credit to the class playing to a capacity crowd on the night of February 20 in the house of my fathers father And further on inscribed in the high record book of accomplishments were the Senior Tea for the fourth group and their parents the Spring Formal Senior Day a day of much fun and leisure for seniors and many other activities spon ored by upper classrnen With hearts saddened by farewells but filled with the greatest of hopes for the future members of the Class of 48 received their diplomas with pride for they were taking out into the world a part of Chaffey itself learning reaped during four years of instruction 47 5 1 L h C. It supported the seasons of football and basketball by furnishing peppy, rhythmical music at all the games, This spectacular showing of the bands talent won it the honor of marching in the Little Rose Bowl Game for the College. The Drill Team, directed by Miss Betty O'Keele, was also kept busy this year performing their various routines at the football games. Waving their black and white pom pans, they proved to be outstanding on the gridiron.
