Languages All German classes are taught by Miss Clara Bissell. To increase interest in German music and to assist in con- versational German, Miss Bissell spon- sors German Singing club. She also is on the taculty assembly committee. Miss Gilberte Gatignol instructs Latin and Spanish classes tor lower class- men. Freshmen, Sophomore and Sen- ior Latin are the courses taught by Mrs. Lily F. Hawlcinson. She sponsors a club to acguaint members with good poetry called the Wimpole Street club. As part ot the class program, the Gens Togata and lnter Nos Latin clubs meet during regular periods. The highlight ot the year's activities ot Latin students was the annual Roman banquet. Miss losephine Casanova instruc- ted lower-division Spanish and also a club lor Spanish singing. She re- signed her position during the year to take an interpreter job with the gov- ernment. All French classes are taught by Miss Mary Allison who sponsors Le Cerele Francais, the purpose ot which is to study French culture and civiliz- ation. Sophomore English and upper- division Spanish classes are headed by Miss lna Wynne. As a class pro- ject, Miss Wynne supervised the building ot a 'Nacimienton at Christ- mas time.

History United States History and Civics which is required to graduate from Chattey, is taught by Mrs. Helen S. Brown and Mr. Louis Sandine lr. Mi: Sandine also teaches debate. This year Chattey Won many honors in the field ot debate, distinguishing it- selt in various contests. Miss Elsie Hamilton instructs lunior English and Civics classes While Miss Esther An- derson has classes in World History and Sophomore English Miss Ander- son sponsors the Vforld Friendship club. Botany and Biology are taught by Mr. Ernest Payne, while General Science tor Freshmen and also Biolosf gy are taught by Mr. Harold Wilson. Mr. Payne is sponsor ot the Outdoor club and during the summer months he is a lorest ranger at Yosemite Na- tional Park. Mr. liifilson sponsors the Aviation club, which does model air- plane building. Mrs. Buth lohnson, Girls' League adviser, instructs Chemistry classes. Mr. Boy Vick, Chatteys tennis coach, teaches Shop Science and Chemistry. Mr, Vick also sponsors the Physical Science club. Upper division Shop Science and Physics is taught to sen- iors by Mr. Paul Moses.
