arnAW. . AT ITS BEST 1980 MOGUL MflNG Craig Steven Harrell The 1979-80 Mogul Stiiff selected a disco theme as the setting for the annual yearbook dance. The ten candidates chosen from the Senior Class were: Anthony Austin and Shari Chasteen, David Dannenmueller and Brenda Pepple, Robbie Coomer and Mona Hahn. Barry Glastetter and Tonyua Bennett. Craig Harrell and Pam Senciboy. The One Night in a Lifetime came true for Pam Senciboy and Craig Harrell as they were crowned by retiring King and Queen Steve Whitaker and Karen Moudy. EDITOR’S NOTE Looking back, numerous changes have taken place during the past four years of high school. However, the one thing remaining constant was the air of competition at C.H.S. Whether debating over dilemmas concerning study time or entertainment, we set our own goals and limits. When competing with one's conscience, there remained that set of governing rules. On the other hand, when the competition involved two or more people an extra set of standards were followed. This type of competition came about in the classroom and in oral presentations. Whether the battles involved bouts of sheer physical strength or mental strength, we always did our best. The real victory, however; was knowing that we competed with ourself and with one another to our fullest capacity. The French Club helps its members not only to enrich the desire to learn a foreign language but also enables them to gain great enjoyment from the knowledge of a foreign dialect. 76 BIOLOGY-ECOLOGY CLUB Throughout the year the BEC strived to aid in the betterment of the community. One way this was accomplished was through the giving of a Christmas basket to a needy family in the area. This civic minded club also enriched their members with appreciation for the world in which they live, with trips to places such as the Union County Wildlife Refuge and Mingo. 77 BIOLOGY ECOLOGY CLUB PEP CLUB A great help to the enthusiam of the atheletes of CHS in 1979 and 80 were the spirited spectators in the stands. Among these spectators were members of the Pep Club. The various Red Devil teams were cheered on to numerous victories by this enthusatic Pep Club. Not only did the Pep Club raise spirit in the school, but they also organized a successful Homecoming week. Some additional efforts by the Pep Club were such events as a raffling of 100 dollars worth of groceries; a parade full of excitement and enjoyment; and the finale of Homecoming, a dazzling dance. 79 C.H.S. “RED DEVIL’’ Robin Umfleet Basketball Football Teresa Parker Football Edie Daughterly Basketball Vicki Penrose Co-Captain Basketball Football 80 CHEERLEADERS Pam Senciboy Captain Basketball Football Angela Welter Basketball Football Mary Pobst Basketball Football Lisa Bagwell Basketball 81 FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA F.H.A. That wonderful warm smile of Jill’s made her the perfect choice for the 1979 Homecoming Queen. The ability and teamwork (or as the cheerleaders say, “Wa ) possessed by the power packed Red Devil team led them to a perfect 21-6 victory over rival I-SC. A victory was also experienced by the Juniors with their float, “Freeze the Rams from Victory,” taking first place in competition. With all the triumphs accomplished, C.H.S. truly showed everyone that it was a school made up of winners.
