1978 Senior Trip SATURDAY, MAY 27. 1978 Departure time from Chaffee High School-7o’clock a.m. Travel via GREAT SOUTHERN BUS CO.. INC. Breakfast at Kentucky Village Inn at Kv. Lake. Lunch at Hodgensville, Ky. Visited cabin which Abe Lincoln was born and visited MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME at Bardstown, Ky. SUNDAY, MAY 28 Traveled most of day with stops at Charleston, VV. Va. for lunch and to see W. Va. State Capitol. Stayed at NATURAL BRIDGE, VA. MONDAY, MAY 29 Visited VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTION, CHAPEL at WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY, and MONTICELLO before riding to Washington D.C. area. TUESDAY. MAY 30 Places of interest seen: BUREAU OF PRINTING AND ENGRAVING. LINCOLN MEMORIAL. MOUNT VERNON, CHRIST CHURCH. ARLINGTON CEMETERY (Kennedy’s grave and the changing of the guard of the unknown soldier’s grave), and IWA JIMA STATUE. WEDNESDAY. MAY 31 Morning was spent on Capitol Hill. Visited with Bill Burlison and saw the SUPREME COURT BUILDING, SMITHSONIAN, LIBRARY OF CONGRESS and WASHINGTON MONUMENT. THURSDAY, JUNE 1 Tour of WHITE HOUSE, F B I.. FORI) THEATRE. PETERSON HOUSE. SMITHSONIAN, and ANAPOLIS FRIDAY, JUNE 2 Left enroute to Philadelphia where INDEPENDENCE SQUARE, LIBERTY BELL, BETSY ROSS HOME, and BEN FRANKLIN’S GRAVE were seen. SATURDAY, JUNE 3 1 ‘w ew York LINCOLN CENTER, ST. JOHN CATHEDERAL. CHINATOWN, THE UNITED NATIONS, EMPIRE STATE BLDG., and RADIO C l I MUSIC HALL with time spent to shop at Macy’s or Gimbell’s. SUNDAY. JUNE 4 Visited STATUE OF LIBERTY before spending most of day heading home. MONDAY. JUNE 5 Traveled most of day with a stop at FOSTORIA at Wheeling, West Virginia. TUESDAY, JUNE 6 Traveled all day with arrival time at Chaffee at 4:30. The Senior Class of 1978 would like to extend a special thank you to all those people who helped to make this trip such a success.
