Foreword In a yearbook we cannot tell the real story of our past school year, but we can attempt to convey the story of the year in pictures. It is our hope that this book will bring back some of these happy memories and in years to come will be treasured because of our opportunity to remi- nisce. Table of Contents The Mogul Staff The 1956 YEARBOOK of Chaffee High School Chaffee, Missouri Published Annually by the Pupils of Chaffee High School Dedicated to the students of Choffee High for their fine spirit of cooperation and willingness to help in all worthwhile activities, for capable leadership, true friendliness, and for their loyal school spirit. Lack of height and experience kept the Red Devils constantly losing by close margins. But due to the fact that we have no seniors on the squad, all the boys will be back next year; and we are looking forward to the 1956-57 season, for we have gained a great deal of experience from this past season. Football 1955 The Chaffee High football season for 1955 turned out to be much better than expected, for we were not expecting too good a season due to the loss of 12 boys from the 1954 Championship squad. The Red Devils finished the season with the record of 2 losses, 2 ties, 4 wins, and the Co-Championship of Little Six Conference. We had several of the members of this year's team selected to the All- Conference teams. Those selected to the first team were Lynn Stubbs, Ed Hanna, Tom Gibbons, and Ed Chronister; those selected to the second team were Paul Montgomery, Ryland Meyr, and John Montgomery; those selected to the third team were Connie Fish and Delmar Wachter. Gerald Dame and Gary Glenzy received Honorable Mention All-Conference. We will lose seven boys from this year's squad due to graduation; we will miss these boys. They are: Lynn Stubbs, Connie Fish, Delmar Wachter, Ray- mond Stinkard, Dorris Cheek, Bill Pfefferkorn, and Dale Stringfellow. This Year's squad was inexperienced, being made up largely of under classmen; but due to their constant hustle and aggressiveness, they made up for their lack of experience, and finished the season with a good record. We are looking forward to the 1956 football season. Baseball 1956 The Red Devils had a good season this year, finishing over the five hundred mark with an 8 won 7 lost record. The team began to show much improvement at the close of the season and made a good representation of themselves in the District Tournament at Cape Girardeau. They won second place. The squad was composed of 21 boys — 1 senior, 8 juniors, 8 sophomores, and 4 freshmen. We lose only one boy froVn the squad through graduation this year so we hope to have another good season next year. -93- Football Basketball Baseball COACH GOODWIN TOM GIBBONS Co-Captain Football LYNN STUBBS Co-Captain Football LARRY DOOLEY Co-Captain Baseball EDDIE CHRONISTER Captain Basketball JOHN MONTGOMERY Co-Captain Baseball -95- Football 1955 ED HANNA Sophomore Full Back 2 year letterman All-Conference Back CONNIE FISH Senior Tackle 3 year letterman LYNN STUBBS Senior Tackle 4 year letterman All-Conference Tackle MARK HOPKINS Junior Guard 2 year letterman TOM GIBBONS Junior Center 2 year letterman All-Conference Center PAUL MONTGOMERY RYLAND MEYR Sophomore Guard Sophomore Guard 1 year letterman 1 year letterman 2nd.
