Junior Class Thirty-eight jolly, jog-along students suppported the jun- ior class roll this year with two very capable sponsors, Mr. Wcs- sell and Mrs. Hopkins. The class was overwhelmed to see two of our misses crowned queens. Phyllis Rhodes was crowned Halloween Queen by John Burnett; Phyllis Gnann was crowned Daisy May of F. H. A.” at the Fall Barn Dance by Powell Keeney. Other candidates for queens were: Sue Rcdfern as homecoming queen at Oran and Max- ine Finch for the Valentine Dance. Parties include a Christmas party with the exchanging of gifts, a skating party, and a picnic. Two one-act plays were presented to raise funds for activi- ties of the class. Our class was well represented on the football team. Six of the boys were on the Red Devils’ first string, plus six other boys who participated in the sport. The boys receiving well earned letters were: Raymond Ballard, Billy Surman, Bob Hampt- ton, Lloyd Haupt, Harold Halbert, and Powell Keeney. Eight boys participated in basketball. Powell Keeney and Raymond Ballard were high scoring players. The boys playing baseball were: Keeney, Ballard, Burnett, Glenzy, and Dowd. We, the junior class, look forward to becoming dignified seniors and enjoying another memorable year at good old Chaffee High. — 26 —
