FRESHMAN CLASS A class of forty-six boys and girls began their high school education as freshmen in September with Mrs. Punch as sponsor. Officers elected by the class were: President, Maxine Shell; Vice-president, LeRoy Jirik; Secretary and Treasurer, LaWanda Brown; Class Reporter, Marvin Pratt; and Sergeant-at-Arms, Ralph Drissell. The Freshmen willingly suffered the pains of initiation and the majority of the class thought it was a lot of fun. LaWanda Brown, a Freshman, was selected from a group of candidates from high school classes to represent our school at the Cotton Carnival. Nadine Lawson was class queen for Halloween, and Shirley Jones was the Freshman selection for Valentine Queen. The class enjoyed giving the Sophomores a skating party and also enjoyed the exchange of gifts at Christmas. -26-
