THOMPSON and MISS GOLDEN FRESHMEN ACTIVITIES On September 4, 1939, a group of scared looking youngsters trudged up the stairs to study hall to enroll for a new school year. They were the Freshmen of 1939-40. We were determined not to be stumped by anything, not even algebra and high school English. It was October 7, before we finally became full-fledged high school students. On that day the Sophomores took matters in their own hands and decided to initiate us into the great high school family. A great time was had by both classes on Freshman Day. At the end of the day, we, the Freshmen, considered ourselves at least a little branch on the large tree, Central Hiah School. Our candidate for queen at the Halloween Carnival was Shirley Denton. We were very disappointed when she was not chosen as Halloween Queen. At the end of our first year as high school students, we look back and say, Well, we have held our own anyway. Although some of our students have dropped, we have gained some new ones. Next year we hope to see all of our classmates join in the Sophomores of 1940-41. In our last Freshman statement, we want to wish the parting Seniors all the luck that they can possibly have in their coming years. — 14 — M o g u I
