Our candidate, Mary Anna Heeb, placed a close sec- ond in the Queen contest. We also presented a skit of The Women which was enjoyed by all who attended. In the spring carnival, Kathleen Rowark represented us in the queen contest. As our candidate for the Mogul Queen we chose Betty Metz. We presented Be Home by Midnight and Melody Roundup as our contribution to the carnival. The Junior Class was well represented in every extra-cur- ricular activity this year — football, basketball, dramatics, debate, glee club and track. JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET The Junior-Senior Banquet was held in the high school gym- nasium, May 10, with the setting being laid in the Candlelight Night Club. Skipper Barron and his orchestra furnished the music and program. Jessie Layne was Master of Ceremonies, and Charles Cunningham was Head Waiter. The banquet was served by the Sophomore girls. Speeches were made by Stirling Boyts, Senior President; John Freeze, Junior President; and Bill Bagbey. LA VAL and MISS COOK SOPHOMORE ACTIVITIES The Sophomores held the traditional Freshman Day for the GreGn Freshmen”. All Fresh- men boys had to wear dresses while the girls were made uncomfortable by having to wear dresses down to their ankles. They all had to enter the back door and naturally they shared their candy with the Sophomores. Our candidate for Halloween queen v as Vonda Woodyard. On April 4, Dennis Slinkard was sent on a Citizenship Pilgrimage to Jefferson City. This pilgrimage was sponsored by the Federated Woman's Club. Mr. Buckstein and workers in his factory paid all expenses. On April 12, the Sophomore Class went to the skating rink outside of Cape Girardeau for a skating party.
