ROW Z: Dennis Ferris, Laura Keck- ler, Sara Daehler, David Ballard, Thomas Jecklin, Max Gordon. ROW 3: David Wiersema, Jeff Daehler, Debra Yoeckel, Lanora Queckboerner, Jerry Janssen, Mary Jo Frey. The second grade room is evenly balanced this year with nine boys and nine girls enrolled. Excitement reached an all time high when the firemen came to give us a surprise ride on a real firetruck during Fire Prevention Week. We enjoyed our Halloween Party as we dressed like witches and ghosts and paraded in the halls, played games in our room, and ate the good food prepared by our mothers. We read, wrote, and drarnatized storiesg dabbled in paint and colored chalk as we tried to create life-like figures from paper mache. We worked hard learning howto read, write, and spell so that we would be ready for the third grade next year. Mrs. Ruby Stiles 7

ROW 3: James Mertz, Thomas Vrieswyk, Stephen Matherson, Jan Murray, Jeffrey Holmes, Sharie Eisfeller, Mark Messer, Sherry Gipe. Our 1962-'63 school year opened with an enrollment of 23. Early in the year David Davis came to our school from Clystic, making our total 24. We nowhave eleven girls, and thirteen boys. Committees were chosenfrom the group to serve refreshments, assistedby their mothers, at our Halloween, Christmas, Valentine, and Easter parties. Serving on these committees teaches us to assume responsiblity, and share with each other. We have been thrilled iwth the use of our new Sixties Edition of Scott, Foresman in Reading. The moder- nistic presentation of our stories makes reading most enjoyable. Our new Arithmetic, which is 2 quite advanced, should lead to a better un- ' ', derstanding of numbers. Our year has S5 been a very busy one, but who wants X to loaf? We are alive! Mrs. Irene Peters
