The plot of the play is as follows: The Coleman family of three: mother, song-writing son Ben and stage-struck daughter Carol, are at home to a worn and slipping movie idol, his agent a Holly- wood columnist, and her photographer in swift sequence. The crowning touch is added by Charwanka , a Russian actress who tries to take over the idol but finds her equal in mother Herman Coleman. Carol has her problems trying to interest The Ham in her talent while at the same time she tries to hold onto Johnny, her sailor, who is being attacked by Elvira, A Southern Menace. With steadily increasing momentum, they become hilariously involved in keeping different parties from knowing others are in the same small house. Finally Herman must resort to gun play to win in the scramble and keep a circumstantial scandal from breaking and to finish things off For the better.
