The following week the squad placed third at the State meet at Wayne. Coach Plrmstrong had three meets scheduled but was forced to cancel two of them. Lacking team strength, the Eagles can look for some near record-breaking individual perform- ances by Bruer and Houser. WO1VIEN'S ATHLETICS The Department of Physical Education for Women, under the direction of Miss Pldelaide Miller, offered eleven sports to the Women of the college this season-speedball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, ping pong, ring tennis, bad- minton, swimming, archery, kittenball, and golf. The speedball season was closed with a hard-fought tournament in which the upper- class team composed of Bruner, Lister, Latham, Nelson, Rogers, Ruttner, Strom, and Strouse emerged victorious. The freshmen retaliated by easily winning the basketball championship. The winning team consisted of Dauster, Hansen, Hoffman, Lane, Mount, Reisdorfer, Ruby, and Wyatt. The freshmen continued their domination in the field of volleyball, winning all their games to take the title. This team was made up of E. Plnderson, Beine, Belgum, Dauster, Hansen, Howard, Mathewson, Moravek, Thompson, and Wyatt. The W. Pl. H. cooperates with the department in stimulating interest in organized and indi- vidual athletics. This group operates an award system which makes it possible for any woman with varied sport interest to earn her mem- lgn 'Q ,gt was is 'Q s W snags' bership into W. H. H. Points may be earned by making class teams, individual participa- tion in minor sports, and hiking. The highest award is the gold medal. This medal was not earned by anyone this year. Sweater wearers on the campus are Kathryn Bruner, Margaret Lister, and Dorothy lane Ross. These sweaters-symbolic of 800 points earned-were all awarded this year. The W. Q. H. emblem which is given for 500 points was awarded this year to lean Hnderson, Mary Qnn Ball, Bernice Gierau, Pauline Iacob- sen, Beth Rogers, and Hngela Ruttner. nl gg 5 H s is ' .B E is F Hn s - .
