The occasion - a reunion of the teachers of Chadron Prep. It is about an hour before the reunion is to take place and we find Miss Speich sitting on one of the couches. She is now owner of one of America's largest greenhouses and United States Director of International Relations. Someone has punched the juke box and strains of music drift through the empty room. The first song is called Larry's Lament. It seems that Janet caught him. They are now the parents of three sets of twins and the owners of one of the largest ranches in Texas. Next comes Bartel's Bop. Ila and Dean moved to Oklahoma when she became sole heir to a huge oil field, Speaking of Ila, she now has three little boys. Then the soothing strains of Beckmann's Blues comes wafting across the room. Yes, Mimi is still here at C, S,T,C. Now she is head librarian and the heartthrob of all the college boys, who want their classes held in the library. I don't think it's the intelligent atmosphere, either. Out of that small machine comes rumbling the rage of the week, Clark Street. In fact, it's not only a street but Calvin has built a whole town, Clarkson. He is quite wealthy now. He is now the Speaker of the House and the youngest one at that. He gave up on science after that reading test. Next comes Covic's Calypso. Yep, Calypso is still the rage, but then so is Covic. She is the head inter- preter of the United Nations Building. Because of her, the immigration quota was raised fifty per cent. They like her interpretation. Well, the machine is a little bit quiet and we find Mrs. Taylor coming on the scene. She was voted the most valuable English Teacher for 1967. This is the first one of its kind. She isn't at Prep any more, she is the head English teacher of the world's largest school in Miami, Florida. Someone has put another quarter into the juke box. Out floats the melodious strains of Nee1and Numbers. Joyce has always been active in 4-H, so now she has a 4-H group all her own. A family of seven little girls. She and Jim are now living on a huge ranch just outside of Chadron, - Next the rock and roll number, Rock-a-Brown. Kathy is now the head Physicist at Mount Palomar, Cali- fornia. Yep, I guess that little box of candy she chipped in on helped, after all, Next we have Wayne's Waltz. H'mm, sounds slow for wayne, doesn't it? Well, he's settled down, much to my surprise. He's a family man now. Yep, he was voted Father of the Year, with sixteen kids, he should be, The record flips and so do we when we hear Roberts' Rumble, Marie is now in Geneva at the world's largest medical center as head medical technician. She has just married one of the world's great doctors and is nicely settled in a small 11, 000, 0001 acre estate. Next comes Meng's Mambo. Gerry has moved to Montana. H'mm, wonder why? Guess she roped her Montana cowboy and hung on. Good work, Kiddo. Mr. Smith comes on the scene now and punches some more songs. By the way, Mr. Smith is now the first President of the United States School of Physics, located at Henderson, Nevada. He has the highest paying job to be had in the United States. Some more songs come from the nickleodeon and we hear some more familiar names. First is Galavanting Grimes. It was a little hard for us to get in touch with Dick. The telephone cable be- tween earth and Venus isn't quite perfected yet. Oh, yes, Dick got through those clouds and set up his domain. Keith's Kapers comes through the loudspeaker. Keith has climbed the ladder to success. He is following in his father's footsteps' and is painting houses now. Well, at least he climbed the ladder. Maika's Melody comes out next. Kenny is now head of the world's largest car manufacturing company. The new cars all bear his name, Maik-a-matic, By the way, he is so modest about his position that he still drives the little old car he used to drive when he was a senior. We now hear Jean's Jitterbug. Jean is married now and she and Donnie own a huge florist shop. Iean's ex- perience in the one in Chadron has made her a big success. The theme song from the favorite TV serial, The rootin-tootin' shootin' adventures of Luger Luggin' Larry, is called Lonesome Laurel. That talent scout that spotted Laurel in our senior class play sure made him a star. He is now the most wanted and highest paid star that has ever hit Hollywood. Caparoon Croons is the name of the next hit. Gordon not only croons but has been named the greatest ro- mantic playboy since Casanova. He owns a house in every country and has won every card game he's played in. Good luck, Gord. The spotlight special of the week is called Doolittle's Dream. Nadine, much to the amazement of every- one, is now the solo clarinetist of Carnegie Hall, She has been acclaimed as the greatest clarinetist ever. H'mm wonder what happened? Big change, anyway. Next we hear Carole's Chorus. Carole, we hear, is head of the United States Department of Home Eco- nomics' and Personal Foods Advisor to the President, Oh well, six presidents in six years. Not too bad a record, Judie's Jump starts turning. Well, she always said she was going to go to four years of college and then be an educational bum. Bet she's the only woman of the open road with a Bache1or's Degree to prove it, The juke box stops vibrating for a moment and the distinguished Howard Mickelson enters the room. Mick, who is now the head of a billion dollar high school in Kentucky, was just recently honored by the President of the United States for his fine work in the education of the children in the United States. He never gives up. He puts a coin in the machine and selects the last three songs. The beautiful strains of Johnny come to our ears, John is now the president of the First National Bank Corp- oration of America, a millionaire and in his spare time runs the Midwest Store here in Chadron. Spud's Songs is the next recording, Yep, instead of Presley, it's Pud, He, his guitar, and harmonica have gone quite a way. He is now the most valuable recording artist in America, The last selection, but certainly not least, is Kool Kilber Kallin. Dale still likes to drive and has become the only man to win the Indianapolis Speed Classic six times in a row. He is going to try for seven and retire to live quietly with Alice and their family. Not only have the teachers of Prep reunited but they brought the Class of '57 together again on the hit parade, Wd! I, Nadine Doolittle, hereby will my long, beautiful pony tail to Ruby Ritterbush. I, Neil Buchanan, being of sound mind and weak body, do hereby will my reputation as terrorizer to Douglas Ritterbush, and my nickname, Spud the Sponge, to Clint Cooper. l, Keith Hubbard, hereby give my so-called nickname, given to me by my friends, to Bill Atchison, changing it to Bugs.
