As we flash it around we see Elaine Andrews riding around in a new red Cadillac. She just married a millionaire. Well! Now what do we see. it is Mr. Anstett. My! He surely has changed, that forestry must be hard on him. I hardly recognized him with that long beard and old pipe, but he is still reading hot rod magazines. Well! What's all of this noise? You might know it is Gary Clements and James Link sitting at a world series watching the Yankees and Dodgers play. They are still arguing which team has the best players. What is it we see now? Oh 1 It is Audrey. Look at all of those children standing around her. It's nice that she finally became an elementary teacher or are they her own kids? Wow! Who is this? I can't tell there are so many girls around. I think it is Vernon Cullers, but what is he doing? Oh! I see, he is singing. Boy! He surely is charming those girls. The spotlight is now on Betty Konrath as she is doing her one act bubble dance on Broadway. As the spotlight passes on, we see Frances Pace as a navy nurse taking care of the homesick sailors. To change our course a little, let's put the spotlight on Mr. Ray Scott. He is sitting in his living room telling his ten little kids how good an athlete he was in high school and how smart he was in classes. One of Ray's favorite pastimes is to go down to Joe Rimmer's pool hall. Joe owns and oper- ates eight pool tables. Oh! Who is this? I think it's Eddie, sure enough. It was hard to recognize him in that tuxedo at the piano and look at the candelabra. 1 hear he changed his name to Liberace the second. Look! There is Dolores. 1 see she got her job as a Home Ec teacher. Teaching her own children to sew. All five of the girls. Well! There is Joanne, I see she is not working in the Floral Shop any more. She owns it. The spotlight changes now to a well-known college where we see Mr. Wilson. He is the newly appointed president. Looking on down the professional field, we see Dave Roberts as a well-known artist. Girls are his main subject. The spotlight now moves to a small town where we see Mr. John Rook. He owns and oper- ates the daily newspaper there. The spotlight turns to our well-known comedian, Mr. Charles Snook. He has made quite a name for himself. He has some new and better jokes now. The spotlight is now on Miss Nona Hetrick. Yes, it is still Miss. She is still looking for a nice looking man with a new car and a lot of money. The spotlight now turns to the College Campus again. There we see Linda Neeland. She is housemother at the Men’s Dormitory. From what I hear she is making out pretty well. I think I have burned out the spotlight, so I guess we will have to wait and see how things really turn out. Commencement Back row: Nona Hetrick, John Edward Kuska, James Link. The season record was a mediocre two win, seven loss affair. Prep's only two wins came over Hay Springs and Edgemont. Prep started the season with only 18 candidates and the roster never did blossom into a 22 man scrimmage squad. Ten lettermen were available to Coach Max Wilkins as a nucleus with seven of them being seniors, Against Lusk the team won a statistical victory but showed up 12 points shy on the score board, 19-7. The next week Prep hosted Hemingford and lost 30-7. Rushville visited Chadron and won 35-0 after leading only by 7-0 at the half. Prep's first victory came at Homecoming over Hay Springs 18-0. Edgemont fell before Prep 13-6; then Crawford ended Chadron Prep's winning for the season, topping the game by a 26-6 score. St. Patricks of Sidney beat the Prep 13-6 after a last minute touchdown pass by Prep was nullified by a penalty. Pine Ridge defeated Prep 26-6 and Alliance Reserves won by a 39-0 score to end the sea- son. At times the squad exhibited a football prowess on par with the top teams in the conference, but the spark needed to produce a winning team was sadly lacking at the critical moments. Prep won the Class C State Tournament this year, climaxing an undefeated season during which Prep won the Northwest Conference Tournament, the Northwest Conference Championship, and the Nebraska Class C District Tournament. Prep started its 24 game winning streak by downing Gordon, Hemingford, and Crawford. Prep then en- tered the conference tournament, and swept through it, placing four boys on the all tournament team. Then followed the conference schedule in which Prep met almost every Northwest Conference team twice. Hemingford provided the stiffest competition, losing by only eight points. Prep, as in previous years, failed to interest the larger schools in the area and played only two out-of-conference teams in the regular season. The first, Lusk, Wyoming, fell to Prep 35-50 in mid-January and was followed by Torrington 49-69 two weeks later. Torrington went on to win Class ”AA consolation honors in Wyoming. Prep breezed through its district tournament with Lodgepole—rated second in the state at that time be- hind Prep--being the chief contender. Although not on par with their season performances, Prep annexed the state tournament by defeating Clarkson 54-50. Behind five points at the half, Prep regained the lead in 1£ minutes of the third quar- ter and went on to win Prep's third state tournament. JAY MUMA Forward - Junior 6 ft., 1$ in. Zrack Summary of the 1955 Season Only nine boys checked out track equipment from Coach Wilkens this year, and of those, four had never competed in a senior high meet. Despite the smallness of the squad, the season still had many bright spots, which were culminated by Prep's placing 14th in the state track meet at Lincoln in class C. ” In the first meet of the season, the Scottsbluff Relays, Tom Williams won the pole vault, which success was the start of an undefeated season for him in that event; the mile relay team, which was composed of Kuska, Williams, Muma, and Roberts, took third. In the Western Nebraska meet a week later Williams won the pole vault, Dick Mingus placed fourth in the high hurdles, and the mile relay team placed fifth-- Tom Mingus ran instead of Kuska. In the triangular meet with Hay Springs and Chadron High, Williams again won the vault, placed second in the broad jump, and third in the 220; Roberts placed second in the 100 yard dash, first in the 440, and third in the shot put; Muma placed third in the 440; Tom Mingus placed second in the 880; Dick Mingus placed third in the high hurdles; Kuska placed second in the high and low hurdles; and the mile relay won first--Tom Mingus ran instead of Williams. In the Prep Invit- ational, Williams won the vault, Roberts placed second in the 440, Tom Mingus placed fourth in the 880, Dick Mingus placed fourth in the high hurdles, and Kuska won the high and low hurdles. The mile relay team won second with Tom Mingus running instead of Williams. In the Northwest Conference Meet, Wil- liams won the vault, and Kuska won the high and low hurdles. The mile relay team got second. In the district meet at Bayard, Williams won the vault and Kuska got second in the high hurdles and fifth in the low hurdles. At the state meet Williams tied with three others for first in the vault, and Kuska placed fourth in the high hurdles. During the year Williams set a new school record in the pole vault with a vault of 11 feet 4 inches; Kuska set a new school record in the high hurdles with a time of 15.6 seconds.
