«44 ‘P'l fi tecy Our jet plane is all fueled up now and we're ready to set out on a sight-seeing tour. If you're wondering what kind of tour--well, hang on to your hats--we're off! We have heard so much about that senior class of 1954 that we're going to take a look and see how they are making out twenty years later. First stop--Carnegie Hall. Here we find Mr. Gary Naylor giving a sousaphone concert with Miss Margie Grimes (yes, it’s still Miss) accompanying him on the piano. We knew that all those hard years of practicing at good old CPS would pay off for Marge and Gary. We also understand that Marge is making quite a name for herself as a top-notch organist. We're off again soaring into blue space! There's Philadelphia below. In this town we find Carol Garrison, a busy dental hygienist. She's sticking to her old high school ambition. Now, down the coast to St. Augustine, Florida, where we see Jim Hampton employed as top chemist on a secret formula for the new Z-bomb. Over in Tennessee, Marian Shelhorn Palmer is working as a public health nurse. Nursing, however, is not all that occupies her time. We can't stop too long at any one place so let’s hurry on up to Chicago, where Jack Wagner is happy with his job as diesel engineer. He has a run from Chicago to Detroit, but he has to make it only once a week. I understand there are a lot of dolls in big town --right, Jack? Back in the old home state of Nebraska, we see none other than Albert Gusner teaching a rural school near Valentine. Get this, girls, he isn't married yet! We find Clifford Logan hasn't moved away from our dear old town of Chadron--but then, why should he? He's busy making big money as a doctor. Did that play back in his high school days influence him in any way? Down in the thriving city of Dunlap we find that Charles Mann owns his own garage and is doing good business. But wait a minute! Who is that down there with him? Why it’s Mary Meng, but it looks as if she's changed her last name. I thought she was planning to be a stewardess. Something (or someone) must have changed her mind. Busily working on his wheat farm in South Dakota, we find Don Egly. Just as we figured, there's Sally Meng, too--or is it Meng? From South Dakota we go on to Montana where Darrell Larsen is owner of a huge cattle ranch. What’s this we hear--Darrell isn't getting along too well with his next door neighbor? Why, it's Dean Buchanan! It seems that Darrell's cattle and Dean's sheep just don't mix. In Utah we find Verna Schnetzky working as a private secretary for a huge law firm. Rumor has it she's also working on the president. There's Charles Rook over in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Charlie, the crazy inventor, is still trying to figure out a way to motorize his desk so he won’t have to carry any books to his college classes. On down in Arizona, we stop at a beautiful horse ranch. Luella Straub is the owner of this lovely spread. Well, we always knew that Lu liked horses. In her senior year, Gloria's attention turned to flying. We find her now out in California happily married. Hang on! We’re off to Hawaii! Here’s where Barbara Snodgrass has a job as stewardess on a famous airline. I understand, though, that she became so interested in the hula dance that now she's teaching it to all who are interested (and some who aren't). Last stop--Haiti! For the last nineteen years Deloris Roberts Millar has been following her famous husband. General Ward Millar, all over the world; but at last they've settled down with the natives of Haiti. Well, we must way farewell to the class of '54 now and get back to our respective businesses. It was nice meeting them all again.
