The Chadron High Annual Staff Dedicates This 1978-79 Annual To Four We Lost, but Whose Memories Live with Us. Steve Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Myers, was born on March 12, I960, at Portland, Oregon. Steve was Valedictorian of the Class of 1978 at Chadron High School and had earned a scholarship to the University. Steve had planned to major in pre-medicine at the Nebraska University—Lincoln. He also was an all-conference football player on the Chadron High team and was a starter on the basketball team. In addition, Steve had been a member of the Student Council and National Honor Society. Steve died in an airplane crash on June 23, 1978, about five miles northeast of Columbus, Nebraska. Martin McDonough, son of Jackie Barnes, was bom on September 15, 1962, in San Jose, California. Martin was a Freshman at Chadron High and was an active member in track and field and also football. Martin died in an auto accident on Highway 385 south of Chadron on March 24,1979. 3

SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS Mr. Elmer W. Corbit The Superintendent of Chadron City Schools for the last eleven years stepped down this past year to enter private business. Many advancements and changes have taken place while Mr. Corbit was the head of the Chadron Schools. He took the lead when strong leadership was necessary. Thank you Mr. Corbit for your sincere service to the Chadron City Schools. Secretary To The Superintendent Bev Weiting Mr. Richard D. Eisenhauer The new Superintendent of Schools in 1979 is Richard D. Eisenhauer. He comes to Chadron with a strong background as a teacher and administrator in both Kansas and Nebraska. Mr. Eisenhauer has as his goal here at Chadron to promote excellence so that we might have the best school system in the state. We are indeed proud to have Mr. Eisenhauer as our new Superintendent of Schools. 5
