The highlights of the year were the 6-3 victory over Gering;and the tough 8-0 loss to Sidney, in which neither team made a first down the entire first half. Overall the team spirit was high and the season exciting. Selected for the All-State team was Leo Curd at linebacker. Four players also were selected to the Western Conference Team. They were Jay Alderman. Leo Curd, Bob Ferguson, and Kyle Wigington. Leo Curd and Bob Ferguson were voted by their team as the Most Valuable Player for defense and offense respectively. Row 3: Tammy Schenck, Pam Robbins, Jody Rish, Julie Mullaney, Kim Muldoon Not Pictured: Lori Schenck. (Coaches—Mary Lou Marshall, and Sheryl Levi) The Cardinal Varsity team worked hard during the 1978 season, and ended the year with a 5 win-9 loss record. Many of the girls did an outstanding job; all but three lettered. Among these were several girls who were recognized for most spikes, sets, blocks, and serves. These included Pam Robbins, Selina Castillo, Jody Rish, and Renee Schommer. Most-im- proved netter was Renee Schommer, and Pam Robbins was named All-around Player for the year.
