The Drum Quintet received an “Excel- lent” rating. OUTSTANDING BAND MEMBERS JIM AMEN, Sophomore; MARILYN HOLMBERG, Senior; ARLANA HA- NEY, Junior. These people were elected from each class by their fellow band members. Marilyn, as the Senior win- ner, also received the John Philip Sousa Award. MUSIC CONTEST Music Contest was held at Sid- ney on April 25, 1969. It was a typical April day—a spring snow storm. Al- though some members had trouble reaching Sidney, the day was a success for most of the CHS participants. The Music Department was well rewarded for their weeks of hard work, as the band rated an “Excellent” and the other entries did well. FLUTE TRIO: Vickie Runyan, Patsy Beason, Cindy Don- nelly. The Flute Trio received an “Excellent.” SAXOPHONE QUARTET: Jim Amen, Virginia Sommers, Karen Lineback, Vicki Harper. The Saxophone Quartet received a “Su- perior.” SOLOS: Patti Kay, Marilyn Holmberg, Suzanne Rice, Jody Hartman, Arlana Haney, Mr. Thompson, Cindy Donnelly, Jim Amen. 19
