At the time this is being written, the first semester of the 1968-1969 school term has just drawn to a close. Students in the new high school building have learned to find their way around the facility and are appreciating the new opportunities provided to them. Students have found more courses being offered and better classrooms and laborator- ies for their work and study. Most students have taken advantage of the improved oppor- tunities to better equip themselves for the demands of the future. This, of course, is necessary if the taxpayers of Chadron are to realize a fair return on their investment in the new school facility. It is our hope that the educational oppor- tunities offered to the youth of Chadron may continue to meet the needs of those gradu- ating next year and the years that follow. -Elmer Corbit ELMER CORBIT, Superintendent Chadron Public Schools SCHOOL BOARD 8 Laverne Fitzgibbon, Richard Stahla, Allen Alderman, Pat Muldoon, Harley Olson, Les KJeman.

Although we cannot forget the closeness that was evident in the old school, the many windows, and the ample parking space, we looked forward to the new school, the new lockers, and the new traditions with an expectation that was apparent. To be the first graduating class, to start new traditions, and to know we had one of the most modern schools anywhere were all important to us-thc Class of 1969-but it cannot be said that we left the old building without regrets. Can it be that we really missed all those stairs, the crowded halls, and the lockers that never stayed closed? Yes, each of us felt a little sad when we remembered the old school. It is as if we knew that a part of our lives had ended and is now only a memory. Now we look to the future and try to visualize what will happen and how our lives will change. -Cindy Hill— 7

JAMES MYERS, Principal Chadron Senior High School Chadron Senior High School represents the fulfillment of the dreams of many people over a period of years. The new building contributes in a large measure to the education of the youth. The contrast between the crowded conditions of past years to the present spacious halls and classrooms is evident to all. The expanded program is a direct outgrowth of the new building. The actual education gathered in these halls is dependent on many factors, and one of the greatest of these is the desire to learn. We are proud to have people in our student body who are here to learn, dedicated people on our faculty who are here to teach, and a citizenry which is concerned to the extent of sacrificing for the needs of youth. It is our hope that this community will continue to be activated by such high mot- ives. —James Myers 9
