SPIRITED AND ATHLETIC After a slow start in pre-season play the sophomores bega league play with wins over Gahr and Downey. A 2 point loss t-Lynwood was followed by a loss at Dominguez. The seaso highlight was a come from behind victory at Warren. Afte trailing by 14 in the 3rd quarter, Cerritos outscored Warrer 13-3 in the 4th quarter and won by one 4039. 82-83 J.V. SETS RECORD This year's j.V. team were special. At least their last game, Cerritos vs. Warren was. In the 1st quarter, Cerritos was beating Warren 42 0. The final score was 102-53. David Hunt, Cedric Carney, and Tony Roland got special recognition for a well played game The team finished the season with a league record of 7-5, overall record of 11-9, and a league standing of 3rd place. TALENTED AND DEDICATED! The 1982 Frosh Basketball team under the excellent coaching of Joe Mendoza and Ceroge Yezback had a successful and enjoyable season. They had an overall record of 13-6 and a 8-4 league record. In the first round of league the Baby Dons lost to Gahr and Lynwood by one and two point margins. Coach Mendoza said, They lacked the confidence and experience to win close games. The turning point came with a 49-47 overtime win over Lynwood, in the second round of league play. At that point in time. Coach Mendoza realized the tremendous improvement the team had made. The team consisted of fine and dedicated, young men and Coach Mendoza stated that they would all be winners at the Varsity level. 1 Ritchie Monteiro tippin' it in 2 lohn Hakopian choosing his best opening for the pass. 3. The Frosh Basketball team
