J.U. WRESTLING “LOOKING GOOD The JV Wrestling team had a good season. They placed first, second, and third in many tournaments. They worked hard and improved a great deal. Marco Demedeiros was awarded MVP. Coach Cox stated that the 1982-83 JV Wrestling team is the most promising team Cerritos ever had. 1. Rick Hatch undecided on the setup. 2. VARSITY BOYS’ TRACK The Varsity Boys' Track team of 1983 was exceptional! Individuals in the track team and the team as a whole set high standards for themselves and met them! A 5-1 league record, entering C.I.F., and the setting of new school record sure made up for the long and exhausting workouts. Ken Kilmurray set a new record of 14 feet in the pole vault. Robert Diaz in the mile set a phenomenal record of 4:13 and won the honor of placing in the 4A C.I.F. finals. Many awards were given this year. Robert Diaz was awarded MVP. Outstanding track athlete was Ken Kilmurray. Outstanding sprinter was awarded to Robert Lan. Robert Thiede was awarded outstanding distance runner. Most Improved was Daryll Phillips. Outstanding field events went to Sydney Johnson. Other tine athletes were Tim Bradshaw, Gary Durian, Antony Williams, Ray Robano, and Keith Levi. 1 Robert Lan leaning for a place in the 100. 2.
