Proudly Presenting AWESOME This word sums up the year for the Pride of Cerritos High School. 1983 was a year filled with competitions, half-times, concerts, and guest performances. Being Awesome means a lot of hard work, including long hours of intense practice sessions and endless fundraisers. Being part of band not only means individual Vitllertout perfection as a WHOLE. Under the direction of Terry Kessinger, the band gathered many first place and Sweepstakes awards along with the honor of being’ participants in the 1983 Hawaiian Invitational Competition in which they placed 1st in the field show division, 2nd in both parade and concert division. The Pride of Cerritos High School can certain ly be considered ... AWESOME.

TALL FLAG... FLYING HIGH The Tall Flag Line was in outstanding form for the 1982-83 season. Performing right alongside the Drill Team and the band at halttime at all home games. Under the direction of Mrs. Marie Kornder, the flag line worked long and hard, before, during, and after school. This practice did not go to waste. The Tall Flag Line captured 1st place in the Norwalk and Cal Poly Pomona Halftime Competition, 2nd Place in the Western and Los Altos Class B Halftime Competition, and finally 3rd Place in the Artesia Parade, West Covina Class AA and Los Altos Class A Competition. All in all, the Cerritos High Tall Flag Line was Flying High. 128 Tall Flags
