Dons make it two in a row 1982S.G.V.L. champs n 1981 82. the Varsity Baseball team proved to be the most outstanding team ever to play for Cerritos High School. Led by Head Coach Vern Brock, The Dons managed to place a league record of eleven players on the all S.G.V.L. team. They were Robert Bafia, Robert Parkins, Robert Klemer, Dave Serrano, Bill Mosiello, Henry Messenger, Mike Walker, Steve Hunt, Wayne Walker, Cass Seldon, and Jim Osborn. The Dons also compiled an overall record of 23-5, dominated the S.G.V.L. for the second straight year with a 131 league record, were rated the 1 team in the all Southeast area, and most importantly, advanced to the C.I.F. semifinals. Besides all of these achievements, the Dons manag ed to have three players make the C.I.F. team Robert Parkins, Robert Bafia, and Mike Walker; and four players on the all Southeast area team Robert Parkins. Robert Bafia, Mike Walker, and Wayne Walker. Along with these honors, Robert Parkins, and Robert Bafia managed to complie a few of their own honors. 1. 1st time division champs arkins was the C.I.F. 3A Player of the Year, shared the team award for overall excellence with teammate Mike Wlaker and was also named Co-player of the Year” in the district and the Southeast area. The other player who shared this award with Parkins was Robert Bafia. Bafia's honors included the S.G.V.L.’s Player of the Year” and also the team's M.V.P. and Co-captains awards with pitcher Dave Serrano. Besides Parkins and Bafia. other awards were given for team achievements. These awards were as follows: Scholar Athlete — Steve Hunt, Best Rookie — Wayne Walker and Jim (Ace) Osborn, Most Improved — Henry Messenger and Most Inspirational — Bill Mosiello. 1.
