s the Lady Dons finished the 1981 season, they had plenty to be proud of. They finished 3rd in league with a 10-4 record. They also competed in the C.I.F. play offs for the 1st time and finished 4th in the Artesia tournament. This recorded the best season in Cerritos history. The team was coached by Kim Bueltel who was very pleased with the progress made. All league homers went to senior stand-outs Fran Bakkers and Michelle Chee. Greater things will happen i n the '81'82 frosh soph xcountry season, a group of fine, young men earned a record of 5-2 and a tie for third overall with Gahr. Leading the team was M.V.P. Gary Durian, a sophomore and a first year runner for the DON MACHINE . The powerful freshmen also kept with the pace of their leaders. Their advisor, Mr. Smutts, noted that they will be working hard in the off season and he is expecting even greater accomplishments from his boys next year. 1.
