t was surely a year to remember ... 1982. Our alma mater had gone through slight changes from the year before; but. new teachers, classes, and other things that differed were only superficial when compared to each student's inner feelings about that year. It was a year of defeat for the Varsity Football Team. With its 010 record, hopes for a CIF advancement were quickly buried. The enthusiasm, however, was not. While being victorious can be a great feeling, defeat can be an even greater feeling by bringing people together. If ever Don-pride had a meaning, it was when a sense of unity was established with the people in the stands, to the girls leading the cheers, to the players on the field: and. this sense of unity could not be broken throughout the year. Doing exceptionally well was the girls sports program. Both the Varsity Volleyball and Basketball Teams managed to take third place in league and advance to the CIF playoffs for the first time in Cerritos history. Most of our teams did well, but what outsiders may have not understood was that whether Cerritos won or lost, the Dons always came out ahead.

I hese are the best four years of I “ your life. While faculty and j parents continued to chant that A so-common phrase, many --------J students finally listened. Of that --------j—I group the class of '82 took advan- ----------' tage of their stay at CHS. Being the first class to ever win class competition for four consecutive years, they were also the founders of many traditions sure to last. Above all, however, they were the ideal example of Cerritos Dons. Just as important were the underclassmen who were a major part of Cerritos High School as well. The hope for CHS, the sophomores, continued with their spirited drives and actually gave the class of '82 a scare at some of the pep rallies. The juniors deserved to be commended for their successful planning of probably the best prom in our school's history. The elegance of the Anaheim Marriott
